Aqua 4x4 — Blue-Green Zellige Tile

A saturated sea-green with true blue beneath it. This is the color of fountain basins in a courtyard at midday — the kind of tile that's been sitting in shallow, moving water for a century and only gotten more alive for it. Aqua sits between our Teal and Fiji glazes, steadier than Fiji's variegation and warmer than Teal's depth, and it's drawn from copper in the glaze itself rather than any modern pigment. Up close, each tile drifts from deep teal to a brighter, almost jade green, giving an Aqua wall real movement rather than a flat, single note.

Sold as individual tiles rather than mounted sheets, Aqua 4×4 is the classic zellige field format — suited to kitchen backsplashes, powder rooms, hammam-style showers, and fountain surrounds where a rich, saturated green is the goal. Nine tiles make up one square foot. It pairs beautifully with unlacquered brass, walnut, and lime plaster.

As with all handmade zellige, no two tiles are ever quite alike — the natural variation in tone, texture, and edge shape from tile to tile is the hallmark of the craft, not a flaw. Because these are individual pieces rather than pre-set sheets, installation allows for custom layout and spacing to suit your design. We recommend ordering ten percent beyond your total square footage to allow for cuts and pattern matching, and sealing prior to grouting for wet installations.
