A deep, glossy black with real depth beneath the surface. This is the color of wrought iron gates after dark, or ink pooled on paper before it dries — dense, reflective, unmistakably bold. Noir is a true black, not the near-black shadow of Teal or Evergreen, and it's always been the choice for anyone wanting drama and contrast, whether as a full field or set against a lighter neutral in pattern work. Up close, the surface catches light unevenly, shifting from a heavier, more textured glaze in places to a smoother, glassier black elsewhere — a natural variation that gives Noir real dimension rather than a flat, matte block of color.

Sold as individual tiles rather than mounted sheets, Noir 4×4 is the classic zellige field format — suited to kitchen backsplashes, powder rooms, hammam-style showers, and fireplace surrounds where a bold, dramatic tone is the goal. Nine tiles make up one square foot. It pairs beautifully with unlacquered brass, walnut, and honed marble.

As with all handmade zellige, no two tiles are ever quite alike — the natural variation in tone, texture, and edge shape from tile to tile is the hallmark of the craft, not a flaw. Because these are individual pieces rather than pre-set sheets, installation allows for custom layout and spacing to suit your design. We recommend ordering ten percent beyond your total square footage to allow for cuts and pattern matching, and sealing prior to grouting for wet installations.
