Sunflower 2x8 — Bold Mustard Cement Tile

A bold, saturated mustard with real weight behind it — the same confident gold that anchors our Sunflower glaze, translated into cement. Here the color loses the wet depth of a fired glaze and settles into something flatter and more matte, closer to turmeric ground into paste than turmeric heaped in a bowl. It holds its intensity without the shine, which gives a floor or wall a grounded, almost architectural warmth rather than a decorative one. Each tile is hand-pressed from pigmented cement by artisans in Fez, following a hydraulic process that has shaped North African floors for well over a century — the pigment set not by fire, but by time and pressure.

Sold as individual tiles, the 2x8 format lends itself to running bond, herringbone, or basketweave — geometries that let the tile's quiet texture do the talking. Nine tiles make up one square foot. It carries a kitchen floor or entryway on its own, and pairs beautifully with deep greens, walnut, and matte black fixtures.

Cement tile carries the fingerprints of its making — soft variation in tone and a slightly porous, hand-finished surface that no machine could replicate. We recommend sealing every tile before installation and again after grouting — a small ritual that protects the pigment for decades to come. For larger runs, order ten percent beyond your total square footage to allow for cuts and pattern matching.
