Moroccan Wrought Iron Sconce
Size: 11"W x 14"H x 8"D
SKU#: WL338
A boxy, wide-mouthed iron form with a jagged, sawtooth top edge and rows of small diamond cutouts running around its face, narrowing below into a triangular point set on a pair of short splayed feet. The two-part silhouette gives it a heavier, more architectural presence than the tapered cones and cylinders elsewhere in the line. The metal shows a lighter, more weathered gray-brown patina, with darker tones settling into the lower point.
At eight inches of projection, this is the deepest piece in the collection, closer to a bracket than a flush wall fixture. The wide upper opening throws light outward before it narrows through the diamond cutouts, so the pattern reads bolder and less filigreed than the finer piercing on the other sconces. Its scale and stance suit it to a larger wall, a covered porch, or flanking a substantial doorway where a smaller piece would disappear.
Each piece is cut, pierced, and shaped by hand by metalworkers in Morocco, drawing on the same techniques that have produced lanterns and architectural ironwork there for generations. Small variations in the cut work and finish are inherent to the process.
