Moroccan Wrought Iron Sconce

Size: 8"W x 16"H x 3.5"D

SKU#: WL348

A tapered cone of hand cut iron with a rough, irregular top edge left raw rather than scalloped or pointed, giving it a more weathered, found-object quality. The face is densely pierced in an allover pattern of small ovals, arrows, and diamonds radiating outward from a central medallion, filling nearly the entire surface. The metal shows a lighter, mottled silver-brown patina with rust showing through unevenly across the finish.

The dense, edge-to-edge piercing throws the most complex light pattern in the line, with barely any solid metal left to interrupt it, so the wall behind reads almost entirely in cut shapes rather than a few bold motifs. Combined with the raw, untrimmed top edge, it has a more rustic, weathered character than the cleanly finished pieces elsewhere in the collection, and suits a space leaning more reclaimed or antique than polished.

Each piece is cut, pierced, and shaped by hand by metalworkers in Morocco, drawing on the same techniques that have produced lanterns and architectural ironwork there for generations. Small variations in the cut work and finish are inherent to the process.
