A green-glazed double-gourd lidded urn in the Fassi tradition of Fez, hand-thrown and covered across both bulbs in raised Arabic calligraphic script. The lettering is sculpted to stand proud of the surface, then washed in silvery-gold against a deep emerald glaze, with the gentle crazing that comes from being made the traditional way. The script wraps the lid, the upper bulb, and the full lower body.

A scalloped metalwork collar bands the waist, and a pair of glazed handles sit at the shoulder. But unlike the more heavily mounted pieces, here the metal stays in the background — the raised calligraphy is the decoration, and it gives the whole piece a tactile, carved quality you don't get from painted work.

The bold green and the script make this a real conversation piece — more expressive and unusual than the painted or plain-glaze urns.
