Emerald Green Glazed Urn with Brass and Silver Metalwork
Size: 15"W x 30"H 15"D - (Mouth Opening: 11"W)
SKU#: VA137
A monumental Moroccan floor urn finished in a deep emerald green glaze with the natural drip and pooling character of traditional Tamegroute pottery, dramatically crowned with hand-hammered brass and embossed silvered metalwork at the rim and base. The upper register carries a scalloped pendant skirt of repoussé teardrops, star rosettes, and palmette florets in the Tiznit silversmithing vocabulary, finished with a rope-twist guilloché lip at the mouth of the vessel. The lower base is anchored by a band of pendant cartouches mirroring the upper composition. The conical zir silhouette — wide shoulder narrowing to a tapered foot — is one of the oldest vessel forms in North African pottery, historically used for storing water, grain, and oil.
A statement floor vessel meant to stand alone as sculpture. Ideal as a floor-standing piece flanking a fireplace, an entry console, a doorway, or anchoring a corner of a designed room. Equally suited to traditional Andalusi, Moorish revival, bohemian, Mediterranean, and earthy contemporary interiors.
