Chocolate 3x8 — Deep Wine-Brown Zellige Tile

A deep wine-brown, dense and glossy. This is the color of aged leather left in the sun — dark enough to read as near-black from across a room, but warm underneath, with a faint burgundy cast where the light hits the glaze at an angle. Chocolate sits close to Eggplant in weight but stays firmly brown rather than drifting toward purple. Each tile is shaped and glazed by hand in Fez, in the ateliers Badia Design has worked with for nearly three decades.

Sold as individual tiles rather than mounted sheets, the 3x8 is our largest zellige format — well suited to herringbone, running bond, and stacked layouts where a bigger module reads as intentional rather than busy. Six tiles make up one square foot. It grounds a kitchen island, fireplace surround, or bar front with real weight, and it pairs beautifully with brass, walnut, and warm white walls.

As with all handmade zellige, no two tiles are ever quite alike — the natural variation in tone and texture is the hallmark of the craft, not a flaw. We recommend ordering ten percent beyond your total square footage to allow for cuts and pattern matching, and sealing prior to grouting for wet installations.
