A rounded, urn-shaped sconce in thick gauge brass and nickel, its full body etched rather than pierced in a bold floral pattern, with small round green stone accents set at the center of each blossom. A narrower neck rises above the bulbous body, banded in the same etched detailing, and the piece narrows below into a small pierced drop. Because the pattern is etched into the solid metal rather than cut through it, almost no light passes through the body itself, so the piece reads as a piece of engraved metalwork more than a light-projecting fixture.

That etched-rather-than-pierced construction sets this apart from nearly everything else in the collection, where light and shadow through open cutwork has been the whole point.
