A handwoven Beni Ourain rug from Morocco's Middle Atlas, set on undyed ivory wool worked in long, lustrous shag pile and traced beneath the surface with a diamond lattice in soft charcoal that reads almost as suggestion through the depth of the fleece. The pile is unusually long for the tradition, giving the rug a fur-like density and silvery sheen under light, with the lattice softening into the wool rather than sitting atop it. Lanolin-rich, hand-knotted on a cotton warp, with hand-tied tassels at the foot. A heavy, warm, tactile piece for a bedroom or reading room — built to be felt as much as seen.
