Chambray 2x6 — Light Blue Zellige Tile

A pale, powdery blue with grey undertones. This is washed denim, worn soft after years — no longer bold, but never faded to nothing either. Chambray sits at the softest end of our blue family, closer to old workwear than to open sky. Up close, each tile shifts a half-shade from dusty blue to near-grey, with a soft clouding within each one that's a mark of hand-glazing, not a flaw.

Sold as individual tiles rather than mounted sheets, Chambray 2×6 is an elongated brick format — well suited to herringbone and running-bond layouts, and a natural fit for kitchen backsplashes, powder rooms, hammam-style showers, and fireplace surrounds where a soft, quiet blue is the goal. Twelve tiles make up one square foot. It pairs beautifully with unlacquered brass, white oak, and lime plaster.

As with all handmade zellige, no two tiles are ever quite alike — the natural variation in tone, texture, and edge shape from tile to tile is the hallmark of the craft, not a flaw. Because these are individual pieces rather than pre-set sheets, installation allows for custom layout and spacing to suit your design. We recommend ordering ten percent beyond your total square footage to allow for cuts and pattern matching, and sealing prior to grouting for wet installations.
