Redwood 2x6 — Terracotta Zellige Tile

A warm brick-red with earth at its core. This is the color of old Marrakech rooftops at the end of the day — clay that has held a century of sun and gives it back slowly, deepening toward russet where the glaze pools thick. Redwood sits between our Adobe and Rouge glazes, earthier and more saturated than Adobe's dusty softness, but stopping short of Rouge's wine-dark drama. Each tile is cut and glazed by hand in Fez, in ateliers we have worked with across three decades of the trade.

Sold as individual tiles rather than mounted sheets, the 2x6 is zellige in its brick format — built for herringbone, running bond, and vertical stack layouts where the pattern itself becomes part of the design. Twelve tiles make up one square foot. It brings warmth to kitchen backsplashes, fireplace surrounds, and entry walls, and it pairs beautifully with unlacquered brass, aged oak, and warm white plaster.

As with all handmade zellige, no two tiles are ever quite alike — the natural variation in tone and texture is the hallmark of the craft, not a flaw. We recommend ordering ten percent beyond your total square footage to allow for cuts and pattern matching, and sealing prior to grouting for wet installations.
